Blog:Vision improvement through electricity
So here’s something fun.
A study at Vanderbilt University recently proved that jolting the brain with a mild current can improve eyesight. Science Daily reports that stimulating the visual cortex for 20 minutes with electricity can improve vision for up to two hours. The worse the vision is to begin with, the more dramatic the improvement will be.
In the study, 20 healthy people were asked to perform a test a bit more intricate than your regular eye exam to measure their visual acuity. Then they each received a very mild electric current through the part of the brain that processes visual info. 20 minutes later, 75 percent of the subjects showed noticeable improvement when asked to perform the same test again.
This opens up a wide range of scientific possibilities for the future, and certainly gives new meaning to, “a shock to the eyes.”
